Searching for the Kingdom
Have you ever received a gift you never actually used or enjoyed? Maybe it’s a gift card or coupon tucked away in your purse. Even though it holds value—and someone already paid the price for it—you haven’t experienced its benefits. And you won’t, not until you’re willing to dig it out, find it, and put it to use.
That’s a perfect picture of how the Kingdom of God works—one of the greatest gifts ever given.
When Jesus walked the earth, He spoke about the Kingdom of God more than 100 times. Though He taught on many things—forgiveness, money, love, and more—every lesson pointed back to the central theme of His Kingdom. One of His most profound declarations captures the heart of it all:
“But seek the Kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.”
—Luke 12:31–32 (NKJV)
What an encouraging promise! Jesus is revealing the Father’s heart—that He wants to give you the Kingdom. But there’s one condition: you have to seek it.
That might sound like hard work, but don’t worry—the search for God’s Kingdom isn’t frustrating or fruitless. Quite the opposite. Your Heavenly Father is eager to reveal it to you. In fact, this journey will become one of the greatest adventures of your life.

Jesus painted beautiful pictures of what the Kingdom looks like. He said it’s like:
- A farmer scattering seed that grows into a great harvest (Mark 4:26)
- A tiny mustard seed that becomes a mighty tree (Mark 4:30)
- A bit of yeast that transforms the entire batch of dough (Luke 13:20–21)
These parables show us that the Kingdom takes what seems small or insignificant and turns it into something powerful and magnificent.
Everywhere Jesus went, He brought the Kingdom—and people were changed. Something always grew, expanded, or transformed. He embodied the Kingdom of God.
In the same way, your search will stir a childlike joy and expectancy—like a child hunting for Easter eggs, certain that something wonderful is just around the corner. As you seek the Kingdom in your daily Bible reading, you’ll begin to see more of God’s nature. When you ask the Father to show you His Kingdom, prepare for fresh insights, deeper peace, and surprising joy. Look at life through spiritual eyes, and you’ll begin to recognize signs of His presence all around you.
The gift of the Kingdom brings deliverance, blessing, growth, and new beginnings. And Jesus tells us the Father delights in giving it to us. He longs for you to receive it, enjoy it, and live in it. So reach out. Search for it. And receive the marvelous gift that’s already yours.
