Living with Purpose: Embracing Balance and Abundance as a Woman of God
Article written by Michele A. Towers
As a woman devoted to God, your desire is to become everything He has created you to be. You want to be the best mother, a strong pillar of support for your husband, impactful in your work, and a friend whose relationships are rich and meaningful. Deep down, you long to live out your God-given purpose and experience the abundant life Jesus promises.

But the question remains: how can you find time for all of this vibrant, purposeful living? Achieving balance amid a busy schedule isn’t simple. Yet you’re not alone! Women throughout history have been expected to “do it all.” Take the Proverbs 31 woman, for example:
- She manages grocery shopping (vs. 14).
- She sews, cooks, and keeps her home (vs. 15, 27).
- She owns her business and works diligently (vs. 20).
- She studies and reflects on God’s Word (vs. 26).
- She nurtures loving relationships with her family (vs. 28).
This godly woman is our inspiration! Just like her, you only have 24 hours each day, and if she can accomplish so much, so can you—with God’s help.
Here are some practical ways to help you find balance and fulfillment in every season:
Let Go of the Superwoman Myth
Women often try to care for everyone and handle everything, but that path leads to burnout. Recognize that you don’t have to carry every burden alone. God invites us to cast all our cares on Him (1 Peter 5:7). Rest in the assurance that He will meet all your needs.
Focus on being who God has called you to be—free from guilt or pressure. Ask Him to reveal where your thoughts or emotions may be guiding your time and to align your actions with His plan.
Track Your Time
Just as athletes track their workouts and financial planners monitor expenses, monitoring your time reveals how you truly spend your days.
For one week, jot down everything you do—work, errands, chores, entertainment. Then review your notes. You may find hidden time lost to social media, unnecessary trips, or TV.
Invite the Lord to guide you as you analyze your patterns, seeking wisdom on how to use your time more wisely and purposefully.
Reprioritize Your Schedule with God’s Guidance
Using your time log, evaluate what activities align with God’s purpose for your life right now. Making hard choices—choosing the “best” over the merely “good.” Remember, there are only 24 hours in a day. Focus on what truly serves God’s plan for this season of your life.
Be willing to adjust your priorities, trusting that God will lead you to what truly matters.
Take Action and Plan Daily
Now that you know what needs more attention and what can be minimized, it’s time to act. Develop a daily plan—even if it’s simply to rest or connect with a loved one.
Invest in a good day planner—this becomes your “personal secretary,” helping you organize appointments, deadlines, and priorities. Planning ahead reduces stress and helps avoid overcommitment. For example, prepare meals in advance for the entire week or schedule regular maintenance for your home and health.
Make use of small moments—pray during your commute or send encouraging messages while waiting in the car.
Enjoy Every Moment
Above all, enjoy each day as a gift from God. Jesus came so that we might have life—and enjoy it abundantly (John 10:10). When you surrender your time to Him, He will direct your steps and bless your efforts. Living intentionally and balancing your responsibilities with your passions and purpose will lead to a more fulfilling and joyful life. Trust in God’s grace, and walk confidently into the abundant life He has planned for you.
