Step Boldly into Your Future
Article written by Michele A. Towers
Deep inside, do you sense that you were made for something more?
That feeling is real—and it comes from God. Even before you were born, He placed within you a unique, powerful calling—an assignment tailored just for you.
Are you feeling called to start a business, launch a ministry, or homeschool your children? Even if you’re not yet certain of what God is preparing, the longing in your heart is a promise from the Holy Spirit. He is at work in you right now, guiding you toward your higher purpose and greater plans.
However, every time God prepares to elevate you, you can expect to run into obstacles. Invisible yet powerful enemies seek to prevent your progress— forces that want to keep you stuck in your past or present, never moving forward. What are these enemies?
Fear and resistance.
First, remember: your Heavenly Father does not want you to live in survival mode. He has so much more in store for you. The Bible assures us:
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever." (Ephesians 3:20-21, NKJV)
Our God is infinitely capable, and He has bold plans for your life. But a beautiful mystery is that God desires your participation in His purpose. He works this way for two reasons:
- He wants you to desire more for yourself, just as He desires more for you.
- So you can learn to trust Him, and witness His miraculous power firsthand.
God is calling you to actions, even some that may scare you. Think of David who faced Goliath: he was instructed to throw that stone, despite the risk. Think of Esther who courageously approached the king, risking her life. Or the widow who used her last bit of flour to feed Elijah when she thought she and her son would go hungry.
God encourages us to be courageous. Courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s the decision to move forward despite fear. It’s choosing faith over doubt.
But just as you overcome the fear from the enemy, you might encounter the next obstacle, which is opposition from others. Stepping boldly into a new future could lead to worries like, “What if people think my dreams are too ambitious? What if I lack their support?”
And often, the people closest to us—those we love and trust—are the ones who want us to stay safe in our comfort zone. Their concern is genuine, but it can also hold us back.
Jesus himself faced discouragement from His own family. John 7:5 tells us, "For even His brothers did not believe in Him."
But just like Jesus, you can stand firm in your identity. No matter what others say or think, God’s calling on your life is unchangeable. Hebrews 10:35-36 reminds us:
"Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise."
You don’t need to argue or persuade others; simply stay confident in who God says you are. Continue speaking your truth in love, standing firm in your identity and divine purpose.
Remember, although you might not have all the answers, God does. His plan is always about moving you from merely surviving to truly thriving. The key is your willingness—your “yes” to stand up and move whenever He prompts you. Sometimes that move is big; other times, it’s small but significant.
Your Heavenly Father loves you more than words can express. He desires for your life to overflow with abundance, blessing not only you but everyone you encounter. All of this is ultimately for His glory. So take that first bold step toward your future—He’s already waiting there to meet you. Walk boldly in His purpose, knowing He is with you every step of the way.
