Walking in Godly Confidence

Article written by Michele A. Towers

When a woman lives with godly confidence, it shines through everything she does. Like the Proverbs 31 woman, a woman of faith often appears to have it all together—walking proudly, engaging in vibrant activities, laughing joyfully, and earning admiration from others. It may seem as if everything she touches turns to success and blessing.

As a woman of God, I pray you are experiencing life with that kind of confidence. But if you've ever felt weighed down by doubts, fear, or a sense of unworthiness, know that you're not alone. Your spiritual enemy works tirelessly to steal your confidence because he knows that without it, your dreams and divine purpose may remain out of reach. He fears your confidence because, empowered by God, you become unstoppable!

Here are three simple yet powerful steps to help you embrace godly confidence and step boldly into the plans God has for you.

1. Base Your Confidence on Jesus, Not Yourself

It’s common to believe we must earn our blessings before we can receive them. While obedience and listening to God are vital, remember that every blessing comes only through Jesus and His grace—not our own efforts.

1 Corinthians 1:30 reminds us: “God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit, God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.” (NLT)

There’s great relief in knowing your worth and success don’t depend on your abilities alone. Meditate daily on this truth: your confidence is rooted in Jesus and the gift of His grace. With this understanding, you can walk boldly, enjoying the confidence that has been graciously given to you through Christ.

2. Write a Dream Journal

Confidence flourishes when you embrace the future God has planned for you. Habakkuk 2:2 says: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.” (NKJV)

Here’s a practical exercise to bring this scripture to life:

Imagine, five years from now, that you’ve achieved the dreams God placed in your heart. Visualize what your life looks like—what you hear, see, smell, and feel. Write five detailed journal entries, describing your life as if you’re experiencing it right now. For example, one entry might describe your typical Monday morning, while another captures a cozy Thursday evening at home.

Writing down your visions and meditating on them as if they’re already reality will increase your faith and confidence. Read these entries aloud regularly, thanking God for the blessings He’s already working to bring into your life.

1 John 5:14-15 declares: “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

3. Step Into New Experiences

Have you ever wanted to go back to school, pursue a new career, start a business, or write a book? Don’t let fear hold you back from becoming all God has called you to be! Hebrews 10:35 encourages us: “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.”

Trying new things not only boosts your confidence but also provides valuable lessons and experience that propel your future forward. Even if you face setbacks, remember that Jesus promises never to leave or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). His presence with you means you can step out boldly, trusting that He will pour out His blessings as you take faith-filled risks. Focus on your confidence in Jesus. Embrace new opportunities. Dream big and thank God for those dreams. As you do, you will see your faith—and your godly confidence—grow stronger each day.
