An Eye-to-Eye Encounter with Jesus
Several years ago, I had an unforgettable encounter with God. It happened in the stillness of the night as I prayed in my study. The room was cloaked in darkness, yet I sensed Jesus standing right in front of me—so close, it felt as though we were nearly nose-to-nose. His gaze locked onto mine.
I will never forget those eyes. They were beautiful, piercing, and mesmerizing. But at the same time, the encounter was deeply unsettling. I could feel Him looking straight into my soul. In that moment, every secret, every hidden thought, lay completely bare before Him. I felt exposed, vulnerable, and deeply ashamed. Unable to bear the intensity of His gaze, I did the only thing I could think to do: I looked away.
Later, Jesus revealed that there was more He wanted to teach me through that experience. For years, I pondered what it could be, waiting for clarity.
In recent years, God has been opening my eyes to the profound truth of the gospel. If I had truly understood it back then, I would not have felt shame in Jesus’ presence. Instead, I would have felt an overwhelming sense of love.
Religion often teaches us to constantly examine our sins, which can make us so sin-conscious that we lose sight of what Jesus has accomplished for us. His death on the cross didn’t just cover our sins—it removed them entirely.
“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:12)
“Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” (Hebrews 10:17)
Because of Jesus’s sacrifice, we can stand confidently before Him, look into His eyes, and know we are clean. What an incredible gift!
The true gospel is all about God’s grace. Grace is His unmerited favor—His blessings, goodness, and love poured out on us, even when we don’t deserve it. Romans 5:17 tells us that we’ve been given an abundance of grace. Grace is a gift that is freely given when we place our faith in Jesus.
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
Jesus doesn’t want you to feel shame when you stand before Him. If you believe in Him, your sins have been fully and completely removed. When He looks into your eyes, He sees not your flaws, but a reflection of Himself. Therefore, stand before Him without shame or condemnation. Share your dreams, your hopes, and your heart. Know that you are justified, qualified, and deeply loved. He is on your side!
